Sandy,
What a great day it was when you came and joined our staff at Daves! You added humor, wit and kindness to
our campus. You are always so kind and giving to all the children and really know how to make them feel
that they matter. You have touched so many in all these years.
I have so enjoyed all our lunches and talks together and I only wish we had more years together to
share more fun times. I wish you all the best in your retirement and I know you and Russ will enjoy all
your wonderful new adventures. I can just see you two flying down the road in the GTO without a care in
the world off to somewhere fun!! Maybe another fun trip to Disneyland. Have a great time. You deserve it!!!
Fondly,
Susan Esquivel
My Los Gatos recollections include a 14 year gap—since that’s how long it’s been since I’ve worked
there—but here are some random memories involving Sandy that have survived the march to

I joined the staff at Daves Avenue in 2004 after being a student teacher there. I haven't spent a lot
of time with Sandy, but I do know what a caring person she is. I recall one day not long ago when
I was in the staff room wearing sunglasses. Sandy came to me and asked if I was ok. I said yes, why?
She said because I was wearing sunglasses inside. I responded that I simply had not taken them off
because I was only inside for a minute. I knew then what a kind person she is. She took the time to
check on me in what is such a busy and chaotic world. I think of that moment when I think of Sandy.
She probably has no idea that that one simple act affected me so, but it did! And of course, Sandy
has always brought us laughter with her puns. I hope we will still get to hear some after she retires.
I wish you well Sandy and Congratulations on your retirement!
Fondly,
