"08 AND OUT THE GATE"
 

An employee of the Los Gatos Union School District since 1969, with substantial teaching experience in all grade levels from second through eighth.

  • 1982 Selected Masonic Lodges' Outstanding Teacher
  • 1984 Conducted tours for our local educational television channel, KTEH-54
  • 1985 Named Los Gatos Union School District Teacher of the Year
  • 1985 - 87 Counseled employees on job improvement skills for the Los Gatos Union School District as Remediation Specialist and the Santa Clara County Office of Education in two separate capacities.
  • 1986 Wrote an original play entitled "Liberty" and directed a cast of over 80 students in the production held at Blossom Hill School
  • 1986 - 87 Created motivational newsletters for teachers in our district
  • 1986 - 87 Organized and presented a teacher workshop on developing team effort and cooperative groups
  • 1987 Coordinated the 100 entry Los Gatos Centennial Parade and planned a 1930's theme party for 250 people to help celebrate the Town of Los Gatos Centennial
  • 1988 Researched and wrote the Special Needs and Staff Development sections of a Site Improvement Plan for Blossom Hill School
  • 1988 Supervised the creation of the Van Meter Memory Book for my son's school
  • 1991 Co-wrote the Language Arts section of the Program Quality Review (PQR) report for Fisher Middle School
  • 1994 - 95 Provided input in the area of Language Arts for the State of California Program Quality Review (PQR) to a neighboring district that was part of our consortium
  • 1994 - 95 Appointed member of the Fisher Middle School Technology committee, serving on the staff development sub-committee
  • 1994 - 99 Served as Recording Secretary, Treasurer, and Newsletter Editor for the San Jose State Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa, a professional education fraternity
  • 1995 - 96 Piloted teaming in the seventh grade at Fisher Middle School
  • 1996 - 97 Coordinated curricular activities as the Language Arts Team Teacher for the seventh grade level
  • 1996 - 97 Elected English Department Chairperson, planned and facilitated monthly meetings
  • 1997 Initiated the Medieval Faire for all teamed seventh grade students with Barry Siebenthall and Christine Jenkins
  • 1997 - 98 Received R.J. Fisher Yearbook dedication honors
  • 1998 - 99 Elected English Department Chairperson, conducted monthly department meetings, attended bimonthly Leadership Team meetings, implemented writing assessments, managed the speech contest, related assemblies, and the Optimist Oratorical Contest
  • 2000 Participated in the Santa Clara County Office of Education's Internet Institute during the summer
  • 2000 Moved to Daves Avenue School to teach fourth grade and, coincidentally, returned to the school where my student teaching was done in third grade in 1968
  • 2000 Served on the Daves Avenue School facilitation team, the School Site Council, and the District Math Cadre
  • 2001 Continued with the facilitation team and the District Math Cadre
  • 2002 Created a Response to Literature writing unit for the district fourth grade teachers
  • 2003 Attended SB 395 classes and created a portfolio for an Alternate CLAD Credential
  • 2004 Received certification for the Alternative to CLAD (SB395), as well as being a Daves Facilitator, ending four years on the facilitation team
  • 2005 LGETA School Site Rep, Home and School Club Teacher Represenative, and School Site Council Member
