teaching skills,

I first met Sandy when we were both on the CTA negotiating committee some time in the 1970’s.
What struck me about her was her strong desire to not beat about the bush. Get to the point; no
dilly-dallying; get on with it! One particular instance sticks in my mind. One morning, Patti White,
the woman attorney representing the school district showed up, and after riffling through her brief case,
announced that she had forgotten some papers at home. “Then go get them,” said Sandy, (or words to that
effect. You’re expecting a direct quote after all these years?)
